Dundal AI · Banjul, The Gambia

Intelligent systems for institutions that matter.

We design, build, deploy, and operate AI platforms and digital infrastructure for government, enterprise, and the public good — engineered in The Gambia, for the realities on the ground.

Where we build
From The Gambia, for West Africa and beyond.
What we believe
The best technology is invisible — it works so well you forget it's there.
Status
GPPA-registered ICT supplier · systems in production today.
What we do

Engineering outcomes, not just outputs.

We move past chat interfaces and slide decks into working systems running in production — and we stay to operate and maintain them.

Applied AI systems

Document-intelligence platforms, RAG over institutional records, media-verification pipelines, and on-device local-language models — production AI, not demos.

  • RAG & retrieval
  • Local-language models
  • Media verification

Custom platforms

Multi-tenant web applications, secure portals, dashboards, and APIs — built around how your organization operates, with real audit trails and access control.

  • Multi-tenant
  • RBAC & audit
  • APIs

Institutional modernization

Replacing fragile paper and decades-old legacy systems with secure, searchable digital infrastructure — including full migrations of proprietary desktop software.

  • Legacy migration
  • OCR ingestion
  • Digitization
Our philosophy

The best technology is invisible. It doesn't announce itself or demand attention. It simply works — carrying the weight of an institution quietly, in the background, where good infrastructure belongs.

Dependable by design

Fast on low bandwidth, graceful when things fail. Built for real conditions, not demo conditions.

Built for everyone

Screen-reader ready, local-language aware — so the digital divide narrows instead of widening.

Yours to keep

No vendor lock-in. Systems your own team can run — and where it matters, models that run on local hardware.

Flagship work

Live systems, real institutions.

Deployed platforms running inside Gambian government agencies today — led by our largest engagement to date.

GAWAI — government AI assistant

A private AI assistant grounded in a government institution's own files. It pairs document management with retrieval-augmented chat, so officers ask a question and get an answer cited from real records — keeping sensitive material in-house, never on the open web.

Let's build something useful

If it matters enough to do well, we should talk.

Planning a platform, a digitization effort, an internal AI tool, or a public-interest project? We're open to the conversation.

About

A practical technology company with a public-interest core.

Dundal AI engineers digital infrastructure that is useful, scalable, and grounded in the realities of the institutions that rely on it — built from The Gambia, for the region's own future.

Amran Gaye, Founder & CEOAmran Gaye · Founder
Founder & CEO
Meaningful technology can be built from The Gambia — for institutions that matter, with a small team and clear thinking. The region should be an active builder in the AI era, not a bystander to it.

Amran Gaye founded Dundal AI on a simple conviction: the tools shaping the next decade shouldn't only be imported. He leads the company's technical direction — platform architecture, AI integration, and the document-intelligence, retrieval, and local-language model work behind its systems — and keeps the team small, the thinking clear, and the output genuinely useful.

Quietly, and well.

Who we are

A focused firm

AI, platform engineering, and digital modernization across government, business, and community sectors. Small, deliberate, accountable.

What we build

Systems in production

Document-intelligence platforms, verification pipelines, clinical and M&E systems, on-device speech models. Real software, operating now.

Let's work together.

We're open to thoughtful collaborations across public and private sector work.

Capabilities

Engineering outcomes, not just outputs.

We help organizations move past the theoretical and deploy working systems into production — then operate, support, and hand them off in a state their own teams can run.

How we build

Built for real conditions.

We map the problem before designing a solution, build with your team in the loop, and stay to operate what we ship.

Stage 01

Discovery

We map the actual problem before designing anything. No proposals before we understand your context.

Stage 02

Build

Incremental, with your team in the loop. Every milestone produces something usable, behind real tests.

Stage 03

Deploy & operate

We deploy, document, train, and keep systems running — so they outlive the engagement.

Our stack

We build real document-intelligence and retrieval systems: OCR pipelines over scanned records, vector RAG for grounded answers, media-verification with deepfake detection, and on-device local-language speech. Where data is sensitive, we keep models and inference as close to the institution as the work allows.

Dundal Foundation

Engineering for the public interest.

Our pro bono arm directs our technical capabilities toward digital inclusion, education, local-language AI, accessibility, and community-centered infrastructure — built where the market won't go.

Why the Foundation exists

Not because it's required. Because it matters.

Technology shouldn't exclusively serve enterprise contracts. The Foundation is how we invest engineering hours, design thinking, and capital back into the community. If a civic problem can be helped by software or training, the Foundation steps in. Every commercial engagement supports the capacity for this work — the two reinforce each other.
